How do you get started with Clean Eating??
A lot of us get confused or nervous when thinking about incorporating clean eating habits into our diet. I was nervous when I first started!! I thought that I would have to deprive myself, cut out calories or eat bland food....not true at all! Clean eating is pretty simple once you know the basics.
Clean eating is eating 'whole, real' foods. Basically, you shouldn't be eating processed foods. You want to be eating food that is as close to their natural form. Like the picture above states, Eat more FOOD!! Clean eating diet consists of eating fruits, vegetables, lean protein, whole grains and healthy fats. You don't necessarily have to go crazy and get everything organic (it can get costly), but be sure to check your labels when grocery shopping. *Tip for grocery shopping-shop on the outer perimeter! This means shopping in the produce sections and meat counter...you don't need to be going in the inner aisles. Typically the inner aisles are filled with processed foods (bad!!). Yes, you'll usually have to go into the aisles for some foods/ingredients, so just be sure to read your labels and shop the outer perimeter first.
Before starting your clean eating diet, go through your pantry and fridge and start throwing away all the C.R.A.P food. Start with a 'clean' slate! Then make a grocery list and start figuring out meals you're going to have throughout the week too (check out Pinterest or my Recipe section for ideas).
-focus on one meal at a time
-read labels (processed is bad)
-clean out your pantry
-focus on what you're adding in, not what you're cutting out
-don't deprive yourself, look for healthier alternatives
-work through those cravings (add in some exercise)
-have a friend or family member join in with clean eating
-drink plenty of water (half your body weight in ounces)
Once you get started, it gets easier. Do it one meal at a time and one day at a time. Before you know it you'll be feeling energized and a clean eating pro!!
